The Commodore of the Panama Yacht Club, or Marco Polo, as he likes to be called, has been sailing for the better part of his life, starting with an Optimist as a young boy, a Hobbie Cat as a teenager and a Morgan as a mature sailor.  He also owned several motorboats, including a Blackfin Fishingboat, a Hinckley Picnicboat, a Fountain Speedboat and a Lagoon Power Catamaran. He organized Panama's most memorable sailing event ever, the 2003 Panama International Regatta. Currently, his main activity is the Dealership for LAGOON sailing catamarans in Latin America and for WALACRAFT Island commuters Worldwide. He also takes care of the after sale servicing of LAGOON catamarans during their stayover in Panama.

The Walacraft builder, or Jim, as he likes to be called, is arguably one of Panama's most experienced shipwrights.

Boats and boating have been part of his life for over 55 years, both as a a sailor and a builder. As skipper, he completed numerous off-shore deliveries across the Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Oceans and Mediterranean. Throughout, he has repaired boats, developing his skills as a professional shipwright in England, Wales, the Azores, California, India and Panama.  Born in New Zealand he has been based in Panama for the last 30 years. He trained local labor with the aim of providing a competent work force to service the constant flow of yachts visiting Panama. Currently, he is completing the total rebuild in Vacamonte Panama of Sea Phoenix, a 1914 gentleman's racing schooner built by Burger Boats in Manitocwoc, Wisconsin.
